Xavier wins team title at Appleton City Boys Golf Meet

MENASHA – Xavier’s varsity team had four of the top nine scores and earned the team title for the second year in a row at the 2026 Appleton City Boys Golf Meet on Monday at North Shore Golf Club.
Grant Neumann won medalist honors with a 70, three shots ahead of teammate Phillip Schmidtke, to lead the Hawks to a team score of 297. Fox Valley Lutheran placed second with a 311, followed by Appleton East (313), Appleton North (320), Xavier-2 (324) and Appleton West (329).
FVL’s team score was a program record dating back to available records being kept since 2000. It was also 44 strokes better than the Foxes’ finish at the City Meet a year ago.
William Bauman and Jack Schmidtke each shot 77 to tie teammates Tyler Kaufman and Kellen Tamlyn, playing for the Xavier-2 team, for seventh place.
Appleton North’s Jonathan Huenink, last year’s City Meet champion, finished third with a 75, Appleton East’s Brody Muller had a 75 to take fourth, and Fox Valley Lutheran’s Kaden Kusserow and Gavin Schmidt tied for fifth with 76s.
Appleton West’s top golfer was Keaton Buss, who tied for 17th with an 81.
