Shawano holds off Xavier softball

APPLETON – Shawano scored three runs in the first two innings and held on to defeat Xavier 3-2 in a Bay Conference softball game Tuesday at Xavier High School.

Xavier (3-4, 2-4 Bay Conference) scored twice in the third inning on a groundout RBI by Elsa Dvoracek and a run-scoring single by Abby Ourada.

That would be all Xavier would muster as it left six runners on base over the final four innings.

Kalia Stammer had three of Xavier’s seven hits in the loss.

Kadence Meyers went the distance in the circle for Shawano (8-6, 5-2 Bay Conference), striking out five and walking five.

Xavier will play a doubleheader at Menasha on Thursday.
