Fond du Lac slips past Appleton West baseball

APPLETON – Fond du Lac scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to break open a tie game and held on to defeat Appleton West 7-6 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Tuesday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.

Quinn Meyers and Henry Ott had RBI singles, and Kellin Gilbert knocked in two runs with a single in a four-run third inning as West took a 4-3 lead.

The teams exchanged runs in the fifth inning and Fond du Lac (8-4, 5-3 FVA) tied it with a run in the sixth, then went ahead in the seventh when Bryson Patton tripled home a run and scored on a single by Hudson Burg.

Appleton West (1-13, 0-8 FVA) scored once in the bottom of the seventh on three walks and an error, but left two runners on base with a strikeout to end the game.

Gilbert had three hits and three RBI, and Meyer shad two hits and scored twice for the Terrors.

Appleton West is back at home Thursday against Appleton North.
