Xavier baseball routs Winneconne, opens up big lead in Bay Conference standings

APPLETON – The Xavier baseball team opened up a three-game lead in the loss column atop the Bay Conference with a 14-4 rout of Winneconne on Tuesday at Don Hawkins Field.
After falling behind 4-2 when Winneconne scored four times in the fourth, Xavier responded with a four-run inning of its open. The Hawks finished off the game by the 10-run rule by piling up four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Kyler Bleck earned the pitching win, striking out seven over 5 2/3 innings.
Quinn Comerford hit a solo home run and scored three times, and Matt Potter and Titan Milhaupt each had three RBI in the win for Xavier, which is now 11-8 overall and 9-1 in the Bay Conference. Winneconne and Fox Valley Lutheran are tied for second at 7-4.
The two teams will play again Thursday at Winneconne.
