Seymour outlasts Fox Valley Lutheran in WIAA Division 2 baseball regional semifinal

SEYMOUR – Fox Valley Lutheran scored first but could not hold on as Seymour rallied for a 3-1 win in a WIAA Division 2 baseball regional semifinal Tuesday at Seymour High School.

Wyatt Schlueter doubled and scored on a single by Jack Schlueter in the top of the first inning for the Foxes, but that would be all they would get against Seymour pitcher Brayden Banker.

Banker shut down FVL (15-13) the rest of the way, giving up just four more hits.

Seymour tied the game with a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Owen Linsmeyer, and pulled ahead with two runs in the sixth on a two-out, two-run hit by Caden Steffens.

Banker coaxed a game-ending double play in the seventh to end the Foxes’ season.

Jack Schlueter went the distance on the mound for the Foxes, striking out five.

No. 1 seed Seymour (19-6) will host No. 5 Xavier (17-9) in a Division 2 regional final on Wednesday.
