SEYMOUR – The Xavier baseball team picked up its second-straight road win in the WIAA Division 2 playoffs as it knocked off No. 1 seed Seymour 5-2 on Tuesday at Seymour High School.

No. 5 seed Xavier (18-9) moves on to a Division 2 sectional at Chilton on Tuesday. The Hawks will play No. 2 seed Little Chute (19-7) at 10 a.m. in a sectional semifinal. The other semifinal will match No. 2 Waupun (22-5) against No. 4 Waupaca (16-9) at 1 p.m., with the winners facing each other for the sectional championship and a berth in the state tournament at 4 p.m.

Kyler Bleck threw a complete game for Xavier, striking out four with just one walk and six hits allowed. He also had a bases loaded double, clearing the bases to cap off a five-run fourth inning to provide the Hawks with all of their offense.

The game was scoreless through three innings before Xavier rallied in the fourth. Gavin Wiese doubled, Titan Milhaupt was intentionally walked and Quinn Comerford singled to load the bases. After the next two batters were retired, Porter Meach and Frankie Cavaiani were both hit by pitches to force in runs, and Bleck followed with the double to clear the bases and put Xavier up 5-0.

Seymour (19-7) scored twice in the fifth on an RBI single by Owen Linsmeyer and a sacrifice fly from Zeke Burton before Bleck wiggled out of the jam.

Bleck allowed one hit in both the sixth and seventh innings but was not threatened as he finished off the victory and sent the Hawks to sectionals.
