Appleton East softball wins two of three at Ashwaubenon tournament

ASHWAUBENON – The Appleton East softball team won two of three games at the Ashwaubenon Invitational on Saturday at Pioneer Park.

The Patriots defeated Oakfield 8-6 and Coleman 12-2, before suffering a 14-0 loss to Union Grove to move to 5-11 this season.

East fought back from a 6-0 deficit to defeat Oakfield, scoring five times in the fifth inning to pull ahead for good.

Emma Jacobs had three hits, and Reese Reichelt had two hits and three RBI in the win for East. Aubrie Erickson, who was the winning pitcher, also had two hits and an RBI, and Miley Bee had two hits and scored twice for the Patriots.

Appleton East had four extra base hits in the rout of Coleman, with Allena Neubauer finishing with three hits, including a homer, and four RBI.

Nina Kubiak had three hits and three RBI, and Erickson continued her solid day at the plate with a single, a double, two RBI and three runs scored.

East was held to three hits in the five-inning loss to Union Grove.

Appleton East will play a Fox Valley Association game at Hortonville on Tuesday.
