Appleton United boys lacrosse holds off Oregon to remain unbeaten

APPLETON – The Appleton United boys lacrosse team held off a second-half surge and defeated the Oregon Panthers 9-8 in a nonconference matchup Friday night at Appleton East High School.
Appleton led 5-0 at halftime and 7-3 after three quarters before Oregon (2-1) made a push.
A number of big saves from goaltender Tyler Bishop and five goals from Jaylen Kempfer allowed Appleton to maintain in the lead.
In the final seconds Oregon, with a man advantage, came out of a restart in its offensive zone before Appleton junior Tanner Dean forced the ball loose and time expired.
Sam Stillwell, Roen Willis, Max Segelstrom and Ben Wilke added goals for Appleton (3-0).
Appleton will play a nonconference game at Hartland Arrowhead on Tuesday.
