D.C. Everest rallies to top Appleton North softball

APPLETON – D.C. Everest rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat Appleton North 8-7 in a nonconference softball game Saturday at North High School.
Appleton North led 4-0 after two innings following a two-run double by Drew Brown, and RBI single from Claire Therkildsen, and a sacrifice fly RBI by Tatum Reames.
D.C. Everest (14-10) fought back as Madelyn Hoppe hit a solo home run and had an RBI single, Piper Schulz also knocked in a run with a single, and a wild pitch led to two more runs as the Evergreens tied the game at 6-6 in the fifth.
North briefly went back in front with a run off an error in the bottom of the fifth, before Everest took the lead on an RBI single by Mara Meverden and a hit batter with the bases loaded.
Brown had two doubles and four RBI, and Therkildsen also had a pair of hits for the Lightning (15-6).
Appleton North plays at Kimberly on Monday.
