Fox Valley Lutheran baseball outlasts Appleton West at Fox Cities Stadium

APPLETON – The Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team remained undefeated on the season with an 8-5 nonconference win over Appleton West on Sunday at Fox Cities Stadium.

Seven FVL pitchers allowed just four hits and combined for seven strikeouts as the Foxes improve to 5-0.

Jack Schlueter had an RBI fielder’s choice in the first inning and the Foxes scored four more times in the second, which included a two-run single by Schlueter.

After FVL went up 7-1, the Terrors made it a game with a four-run sixth. Charlie Blevins had an RBI double, Issa Ise drove in a run with a fielder’s choice, and two more came across on back-to-back errors, but that would be all West (1-6) would muster.

Brady Popp scored on a wild pitch for the Foxes in the seventh and Wyatt Schlueter picked up the save, shutting down the Terrors in the bottom half.

Jack Schlueter finished with four RBI for the Foxes.

Appleton West hosts Ashwaubenon on Monday and Kimberly on Tuesday. FVL’s next game is Tuesday at Menasha.
