Hot-hitting Midland (Mich.) Berryhill defeats Appleton Doubledays at Great Lakes Legion Baseball Regional

CAROL STREAM, Ill. – The Appleton Doubledays could not stop a powerful Midland (Mich.) Berryhill offense and dropped a 12-3 decision in a winners’ bracket game at the Great Lakes American Legion Baseball Regional on Thursday.

Midland, last year’s Great Lakes regional champion, jumped out to a 5-0 lead and after the Doubledays scored a run in the third inning on an RBI single by Dawsen Burington, Midland scored a run in the bottom of the inning and tacked on six in the fourth to take control.

The Doubledays scored their final two runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Rylan Winkler and Cade Prestigiacomo.

Appleton (19-6) will play an elimination game against De Pere at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
