Little Chute holds off late rally to defeat Fox Valley Lutheran baseball

LITTLE CHUTE – Little Chute scored six times in the bottom of the sixth and held on to defeat Fox Valley Lutheran 13-11 in a nonconference baseball game Monday at Little Chute High School.

Brady Popp hit a three-run homer in a five-run fifth inning for the Foxes to give then a 7-6 lead, but it was short-lived as Little Chute (9-3) tied the game in the bottom of the frame and went ahead for good with a six-run sixth.

FVL scored four times in the top of the seventh, keyed by a two-run double from Jack Schlueter, but the rally fell short.

Popp and Luke Heimerl each had two hits in the loss for FVL (10-5).

Fox Valley Lutheran will play a Bay Conference series against Xavier this week with first place in the conference on the line. Tuesday’s game is at FVL and Thursday the two teams will meet at Don Hawkins Field. Both games start at 4:30 p.m. FVL holds a one-half game lead over Xavier for first place in the conference standings.
