Appleton West baseball roughs up Appleton East

APPLETON – The Appleton West baseball team cracked out 12 hits and defeated Appleton East 14-4 in a Fox Valley Association game on Tuesday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.

After Appleton East (3-21, 1-16 FVA) scored four times in the top of the first inning, the Terrors plated three runs in the bottom of the frame and scored nine times in the second to bust the game open.

East didn’t score again after the opening inning as Kellin Gilbert, Reeder Luedtke and Sam Wachowiak combined on a five-inning two-hitter.

Charlie Blevins had a solo home run and scored three times, and Nick Downs, Isaac Ise and Zackary Madson all had two hits for Appleton West (3-21, 2-15 FVA). Madson and Quinn Meyers each drove in three runs in the victory.

Appleton West will play at Fond du Lac and Appleton East will host Oshkosh West to wrap up their respective regular seasons on Thursday.
