Appleton United girls lacrosse opens WIAA playoffs with win over Neenah

APPLETON – The Appleton United girls lacrosse team opened up WIAA postseason play with a 10-6 win over Neenah in a regional semifinal Thursday at Appleton East High School.

Appleton (12-3-1) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and after Neenah (5-9-1) was able to get to within two, it finished the game with a 3-1 push in the fourth to nail down the victory.

Kayden Smit and Riley Harris each scored three goals, and Candice Guerrero, Chloe Rhoda and Naomi Konkle all tacked on goals for Appleton.

Appleton goalie Morgan Muntner finished with seven saves.

No. 5 seed Appleton United moves on to a regional final at No. 4 Waunakee on Tuesday.
