Appleton Doubledays knock off Appleton Post 38 in crosstown Legion baseball rivalry

MENASHA – The Appleton Doubledays scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead for good as they went on to defeat Appleton Post 38 7-4 in American Legion baseball action Monday night at Koslo Park.

Isaac Ise had an RBI single and Carter Hudson plated a run with a sacrifice fly to give Post 38 (10-6) a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth.

The Doubledays responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, capped by a Oscar Crownhart RBI single.

Zander Martin threw three shutout innings in relief to finish off the win for the Doubledays (5-7).

Both teams are back in action Tuesday as Appleton Post 38 hosts Kimberly at Don Hawkins Field and the Doubledays travel to Bay Port. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
