Appleton East baseball edges Appleton West in eight innings

APPLETON – Adan Vargas was hit by a pitch and came around to score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning giving the Appleton East baseball team a 7-6 walk-off win over Appleton West on Thursday at East High School.
Appleton East led 5-3 before Appleton West pulled ahead with a three-run seventh on RBI singles by Kellin Gilbert and Reeder Luedtke.
Calvin Feucht had his fourth hit of the game to drive in the tying run in the bottom of the seventh for the Patriots and they were able to pull out the win in the eighth to improve to 3-7 overall and 1-7 in the Fox Valley Association.
Isaac Ise had two hits and two RBI for Appleton West (1-12, 0-7 FVA).
Appleton East will host Pulaski for a nonconference game on Friday. Appleton West’s next game is Tuesday at home against Fond du Lac.
