Appleton North baseball drops pitchers’ duel to Neenah

APPLETON – The Appleton North baseball team suffered its second-straight loss, falling in another pitchers’ duel to Neenah 3-1 in Fox Valley Association action Tuesday at North High School.
A day after losing 3-2 to Kimberly, the Lightning again had its offense stuffed. Neenah pitcher Gus Weinholzer threw a complete game, allowing just five hits and one run with eight strikeouts.
Owen Reuland took the loss for Appleton North (10-3, 6-2 FVA), allowing four hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
Mack Krause had a solo home run in the third inning for Neenah, and after the Lightning tied the game when Teegan Karpinske doubled and scored on a passed ball in the fourth, the Rockets plated two runs in the fifth to pull ahead for good.
