Beaver Dam erupts for nine-run sixth to blow past Appleton East baseball

BEAVER DAM – Beaver Dam used a nine-run sixth inning to push past Appleton East 9-1 in a nonconference baseball game Friday at Beaver Dam High School.
Appleton East starter Zander Martin threw five shutout innings as the game remained scoreless until the Patriots scratched across a run in the top of the sixth without a hit.
Alex Thompson walked with two outs, moved up to third after a Evan Benbrooks reached on a dropped third strike, and scored on a balk to put East up 1-0.
Beaver Dam got to Martin in the bottom of the inning, knocking him out after three walks, four hits and five runs scored.
Ashtyn Seifert tacked on a three-run homer to finish the nine-run frame as the Golden Beavers improve to 11-10.
Appleton East (3-20) will finish its regular season with Fox Valley Association games at Appleton West on Tuesday at home against Oshkosh West on Thursday.
