Xavier baseball finishes off Bay Conference championship season with win at Green Bay East/West

GREEN BAY – The Xavier baseball team finished off its Bay Conference title season with a 19-3 rout of Green Bay East/West on Friday at Joannes Park.

The Hawks scored multiple runs in five-straight innings to win via the 10-run rule after six and finish off a 12-2 mark in the Bay Conference in capturing their first conference championship since 2006.

Carter Hermus had four hits and three RBI, Quinn Comerford had four hits and drove in two, and Matt Potter and Evan Wittmann each had three hits and combined for five RBI for Xavier (14-9 overall).

Frankie Cavaiani allowed three runs in three innings to earn the pitching win, and Easton Stempa threw three shutout innings to pick up the save for the Hawks.

Xavier will finish its regular season with a nonconference home game against Crivitz on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Don Hawkins Field. The Hawks open WIAA postseason action with a Division 2 regional quarterfinal on Thursday at home against Wrightstown.
