Kaukauna hits walk-off homer in ninth inning to defeat Appleton North baseball

KAUKAUNA – Kaukauna’s Paxton Schuh tied the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning, then hit a walk-off home run in the ninth as the Ghosts topped Appleton North 3-2 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Tuesday at Kaukauna High School.

Appleton North (11-5, 7-4 FVA) scored twice in the first inning on an error and a fielder’s choice ground ball by Matthew Hietpas, but that would be all the Lightning would muster.

Schuh struck out seven over 6 2/3 innings and Bennett Geitner threw 2 1/3 shutout innings to keep Kaukauna (11-6, 8-3 FVA) in the game.

A single and an error led to Schuh’s two-run single in the seventh that tied the game at 2-2, sending it to extra innings.

North left three runners on base over the next two innings without scoring before Schuh ripped a homer to center to end the game for the Ghosts.

Both teams are back in action Thursday as Kaukauna plays at Appleton West and Appleton North is home against Kimberly.
