KIMBERLY – The Appleton North softball team was officially knocked out of contention for the Fox Valley Association title with a 3-0 loss to Kimberly on Monday at Sunset Park.
Breckan Luedke had an RBI double in the first inning and a solo homer in the sixth to give the Papermakers (17-7, 10-4 FVA) enough offense.
Kimberly pitcher Bella Ellestad held Appleton North (15-7, 11-4 FVA) to just three hits to earn the complete game shutout victory.
Charlotte Radtke also went the distance for North, striking out five with just one walk.
With Hortonville’s win over Fond du Lac on Monday, and North’s loss, Hortonville clinches the FVA championship.
Appleton North hosts West Bend East for a nonconference game Tuesday before closing out its regular season and FVA schedule at Appleton East on Thursday.
