SEYMOUR – Seymour scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, then won it in the eighth as it handed the Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team its first Bay Conference loss of the season 8-7 on Saturday at Seymour High School.

The Foxes led 7-1 after scoring three times in the top of the fourth, but Seymour responded, scoring two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, and three more in the seventh to tie it after FVL had scored in the top of the inning.

After Seymour pitcher Xavier Salzman struck out the side working around a one-out walk, the Thunder plated the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Nolan Beilfuss.

Michael Gutekunst had two hits and four RBI, and Jackson These had two hits and scored twice for Fox Valley Lutheran, which falls to 10-4 overall and 7-1 in the Bay Conference.

FVL still holds a one-half game lead in the conference standings over Xavier. The two teams will play their season series this week – Tuesday at FVL and Thursday at Don Hawkins Field. First, the Foxes will play a nonconference game at Little Chute on Monday.
