Appleton North baseball slams Appleton East to end five-game losing streak

APPLETON – The Appleton North baseball team ended a five-game losing skid with a 7-1 win over Appleton East in a Fox Valley Association contest Thursday at East High School.
Owen Reuland had an RBI double and Jackson Skorr followed with a two-run single to put the Lightning (12-8, 8-8 FVA) up 3-0 in the top of the first inning.
East (3-19, 1-15 FVA) scratched out its only run in the bottom of the first as Nick Verbeten scored on a fielder’s choice by Blake Dietzen.
The 3-1 score held until North tacked on four runs in the top of the seventh, which included a two-run homer by Nathan Ramus.
Colin Reddy picked up the pitching win for the Lightning, striking out three over four scoreless innings.
Appleton North hosts Fond du Lac and Appleton East plays at Appleton West on Tuesday to begin the final week of the FVA season.
