Appleton North softball defeats Appleton East for fourth-straight win

APPLETON – Appleton North pitcher Evelyn Frega took a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Lightning cruised to a 7-2 win over Appleton East in a Fox Valley Association softball game Tuesday at North High School.

Frega struck out 13 over the first six innings before allowing a walk, two hits and two runs in the seventh but finished off a complete game as North won its fourth game in a row to improve to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the FVA.

Drew Brown had a three-run double in the bottom of the first inning to start the scoring for the Lightning. Charlotte Radke added two hits, including an RBI single in the fifth.

Lydia Dahlman had an RBI double for Appleton East (1-7, 0-7 FVA).

Appleton East will play a nonconference game at Stevens Point on Wednesday before hosting Appleton West on Thursday. Appleton North’s next game is Thursday at Fond du Lac.
