Xavier takes third, Fox Valley Lutheran fifth at Bay Conference boys golf meet

NEW LONDON – Derek Watry shot a 39 to finish in a four-way tie for second place to lead Xavier to a third-place finish at the rescheduled third leg of the Bay Conference Boys Golf Tournament on Wednesday at Shamrock Heights Golf Course.

Winneconne’s Austin Dobbe shot an even-par 36 to win medalist honors and help the Wolves to the team title with a total score of 154.

Seymour was a distant second with a 163, with Xavier just one stroke back in fourth. Fox Valley Lutheran placed fifth with a 181.

Kaden Kusserow tied for sixth with a 40 and was the only Fox Valley Lutheran player in the top 20.

Phillip Schmidtke tied for ninth with a 41, and Jack Schmidtke and Grant Neumann were among five tied for 12th with 42s for Xavier.

Quinn Murphy had a 44 and Kane Thorstensen had a 47 as well for the Foxes.

The final Bay Conference Boys Golf Tournament will be held Tuesday, May 19, at Wander Springs Golf Course in Wayside.
